The bookstore will be CLOSED on Friday, March 17.

If you purchase an eBook (expires in x amount of days), you will receive an email from RedShelf. Please check your HVCC and personal email as well as all junk folders. If you do not receive an email, you will go to (on a desktop) and Submit a Request for them to resend it.

Store Policies




  • All returns and exchanges MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by ORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT.

  • Refunds will be issued in the same form as original payment was made.

  • All returns and exchanges must be brought to the Bookstore Customer Service desk.  If other arrangments are required, please call 518-629-7157.

  • In addition to the above mentioned, for a refund to be issued, or an exchange made, the following conditions must be met:

  • Refunds can only be made during the two weeks following the start of the semester (one week for Summer and Sprint sessions).  For students with an official withdrawal form, change of schedule or course cancellation notice, refunds will be issued until four weeks after the first class of the semester.  (2 weeks for Summer and Sprint sessions).

  • No refunds will be given after this period.

  • To receive a full refund, book must not be marked or damaged in any way.  Books sold in sealed plastic, must be unopened.  Any discs or online access codes must be unused and in their original sealed pocket.  If the text is marked or damaged, the Bookstore reserves the right to refuse the return.  If such a book is accepted for return, you will receive "used" value for your text, which is 75% of the "new" price.
  • Textbooks purchased more than 2 weeks before the start of the semester are not eligible for return. 


  • Optional Books are returnable within 5 days of the original purchase and must be accompanied by a receipt.

TRADE BOOKS / REFERENCES (Test Review, Quick Study, etc.)

  • Not returnable unless defective.  Defective items may be returned for replacement within in 5 days of original purchase.


  • These items are not returnable to the bookstore.  The manufacturer, however, will provide service or replacement for any defective merchandise.  Save the packaging, as it contains details on how to contact the manufacturer should the item be defective.  


  • All other merchandise may be returned with sales receipt, in brand new condition, within 14 days of purchase.  Original packaging, if applicable, must be intact.

  • Special orders or clearance merchandise sales are final.
